Purple Bass - Professional Musician

Hello, my name is Ji Yoon. I have been working as a professional musician for over a decade, beginning my career in South Korea. Currently, I reside in France, where I run my own music studio. My primary focus is bass recording, and I specialize in session work for various artists and productions.

I began my career in my early twenties as a studio session player in South Korea. I owe much of my early success to being accepted into Seoul Institute of the Arts, the top music school in Korea, where only four students are selected each year for bass. This was a pivotal moment in my life, and I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity. Almost immediately after starting college, I began working in recording studios, which set the foundation for my professional journey.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of collaborating with major companies, including JYP Entertainment, known for producing top K-pop idols. My contributions extend beyond playing bass for K-pop tracks; I also have my own personal releases. One of my proudest achievements is releasing a full-length album under my artist name, "Purple Bass," where I explore my passion for fusion jazz and instrumental music.

A defining milestone in my career was working with legendary Canadian drummer Randy Cooke on my "Purple Bass" album. This unexpected collaboration was one of the most fulfilling and memorable experiences of my musical life.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to collaborate with even more artists from around the world. The greatest joy for me comes from finding that exact intersection between my creative vision and that of those I work with.
