Gain Staging: When Clean Boosts Distort

If you’re curious about gain staging, clean boosts, and how pedals actually interact in real musical contexts, this video should help make a bit more sense of it.
I start from a very clean, high-headroom sound and work through how clean boosts behave on their own, what changes when you stack them, and why distortion often comes from interaction rather than any single pedal. It’s about listening to how things feel under the fingers as gain builds through a chain.
A quick note:
I’m currently revisiting the Twin Boost, Twin Parallel, and Embers Fuzz as part of a new, updated and revamped Core line and a more stripped-back Faded line. That means the current versions won’t be around for much longer. If you like these pedals as they are now, this is likely the last chance to pick one up.
