I’ve wanted to do this one for a while, but never got the chance to
Now that this round’s theme is “do whatever”, I ever got the chance to
How did I do this in 2 weeks

Anyways onto the recaps

Writing :
Writing this was actually really fun to do
I found my concept really easily
And then I just went along from there
Snuck in some phrases (to be a legend, is your legacy more important than your love?)
Snuck in some references (BIRDBRAIN, Machine Love)
And overall, I’m satisfied with this one

Audio (VA & Mixing) :
Okay so
This song didn’t have an FLP
Nor did it even have separate vocals
So logically, I had to tune it by ear
I am not logical
So how I tuned it is
I recreated the melody into a project file, essentially like a vocal recreation
Then I tune it off of that
Why? So that I know it sounds more on tune
I don’t trust my ears. Chromatics make it easier to tell
Talking about not trusting my ear
Uhhhhh
The mixing in this one is uhhhhh

I don’t know why I decided to add sprites and animation and everything

There’s still so many cut corners…

Editing :
I rushed this one in a day
Had to fully lock in for the entirety of it, from 11AM-2AM
Hey, at least it came out good

Cut corners :
-The intro was supposed to have an animation
-The transition animation was supposed to be finished
-There was supposed to be a second frame to the sprites, and the idle was supposed to be animated
-The sprites were supposed to be shaded with the spotlight's light

Ending note :
Warp Pipe has been one hell of a ride of (a lot of)ups and (a lot of)downs
Would I change anything about it?
Maybe
Am I happy with how it went?
Absolutely
It’s an experience I’ll never forget, and I’m grateful that I got a chance to participate in it

Friday Night Funkin' (stylized as FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' and often abbreviated to FNF) is an open-source donationware rhythm game first released in 2020 for a game jam. The game was developed by a team of four Newgrounds users, Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s

The game mainly revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of characters in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. The gameplay revolves around hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song.

The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam in October 2020. A full version backed on Kickstarter titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game is under development.

FNF: EXEcutable Mania was a Friday Night Funkin' EXE mod created by michimoomo. The mod planned to star several EXEs and internet horrors in a grab bag fashion. It has 7 songs on its demo, with more that were planned on its full release. The mod was eventually cancelled, however, due to issues with the team. DJAwesome has confirmed that the mod will be turned into a web series akin to The Sonic.exe Rerun UST series, also made by him, and over the course of the March Mania event in March 2025, newly remade songs from the mod were uploaded over the course of a week and as an album. Despite this, there are no plans for the mod to be revived

Legend was planned opponent character in Legendary against playable character Boyfriend
