Daily stitching for 8th March, #internationalwomensday
Stitched area approximately 1" x 3", worked with silk and cotton threads on vintage linen. Use one strand of DMC-type floss throughout if that's what you've got.
1. (optional) couch an outline - I'm using hand-dyed silk noil yarn couched with fine silk
2. fly stitch closed with a straight stitch to make triangular body/dress
3. scroll stitch for legs and feet
4. fly stitch for joined hands; scroll stitch for single arm/hand
5. pair of fly stitches for head, one for lower half and another inverted for upper half
6. (optional) straight/running stitch to create striped dresses
7. straight stitches for grass
8. scroll stitch and/or straight stitch for hair - or French knots if you want curls 🙂
