Full Series Playlist: • Restoring a Historic Townhouse
All of our hard work is starting to pay off and this historic reno is FINALLY getting some finishes. This week is all about prep - we're priming walls, waterproofing, and making sure our trade partners are on board with our clients designs.
If there's one thing to note about take from this vide, it's the importance of communication. It would be foolish not to spend a few hours going over sequences and scenarios with your clients, installers, vendors, and design professionals.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're going to use all of our experience with restoring older rowhomes to bring this one back to life. To us, that means sustainability through durability. It means using materials and methods that will add to the longevity of this structure (think lime mortars instead of modern cements). It means insulation strategies that won't trap moisture and release dangerous chemicals. It means updated mechanical systems that save money and energy while providing reliable comfort.
We're trying something new with this series. It's going to be vlog-style' videos showing our weekly progress and setbacks. While there's an order of operations we follow, very rarely is construction linear, especially when restoring these historical townhouses. During any given week we're doing 5-10 different tasks. As a self-performing general contractor, a lot of the details fall on us to execute perfectly.
