In this video, Kirsty does some practical nails that are ideal for any workplace.
Todays Model Nikki, likes to chew her nails, she has been told by several salons that she needs to grow her nails before they can help, Kirsty disagrees, and is going to show you why.
Firstly Kirsty pushes back the cuticles, you will find that the cuticle will be dry and all of the non living tissue needs to be removed, Kirsty suggests that the more a client has their nails done, returning for fills, the better condition the clients nails will end up being.
Kirsty is going to do a full look just how she does them in a salon, all in one go, instead of individual nails. Once Kirsty has pushes back the cuticle, she then removes the surface shine. Rather than using a white block, Kirsty gently uses a file, so that she can get down to the sides of the short nails, so that the acrylic will adhere better.
Using Gel Residue wipe off solution, she wipes off the dust. Kirsty then sizes tips, without wells, dues to working on short bitten nails, she really has to shape each tip to fit perfectly. Kirsty the applies Nail Glue to the tip, and the sticks to the natural nail, she uses a pinching tool to make sure the corners of the tip are stuck down.
Kirsty the uses tip cutters to shape the tips into short ballerina/coffin shapes, before refining with the hand file. After dusting the nails, Kirsty uses gel residue wipe off solution to clean the nail, she could have used Pure Acentone but chose not to melt the top surface.
Kirsty the preps the nails, firstly using Nail Prep Dehydrator then Acid Free Primer. Kirsty uses Cover Peach Powder and Max Adhesion Acrylic Powder.
Kirsty the show how to do a ballerina / Coffin shaped Smileline, Using a bead of acrylic, she moulds it into the same shape as the free edge of the nail tip.
Kirsty decides to do all of the french tips before starting the full cover nails, because this is how she would do it in the salon. it's the best way to do it. Adam asks how long would it take to do a set of nails in a salon, and kirsty said she would allow one and a half hours for this type of manicure.
Kirsty then uses a 180 grit file, brand new out of the box, but because it's a new file kirsty must file down the sharp edges of it, to make sure she does not cut her client
Once she is done, she refines the edges of the ballerina smileline, that she did on the three nails
Part two of this design is coming next.
