TRIBUTE TO LATE MUROHU CHOTSO
Late Murohu Chotso, son of Ngorunyi Chotso and Verhitsolu
Chotso of Phusachodu Village was born on 15° November 1957.
The fourth son among six brothers, he stood out from childhood as
a bright, promising boy whose dedication to studies and natural
talents marked him for distinction.
A gifted student, he completed his Graduation from Patkai Christian
College, Dimapur, pursued LLB at Kohima Law College, and later
earned an M.Sc. in Disaster Mitigation. Alongside academics,
excelled in sports, particularly wrestling, and proudly represented
his village at the Chokri Area Wrestling Meet. His hobbies included
bird trapping, wrestling, and reading-simple joys that reflected his
love for both nature and knowledge.
Starting a career in government sector during 1986, he later joint the
Nagaland Civil Services in 1988 and rose through the ranks with
commitment and integrity, serving in various capacities including
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung and Phek, and culminating
his career as Secretary, Works & Housing Department, from where
he retired in 2017. His service was marked by diligence, fairness,
and a vision for the betterment of society.

2. 1987- Selected as Probation Officer under Rural Bank
3. Selected as Asst. Project Officer, SIRD
4. 1988-Selected as Extra Assistant Commissioner and posted
to Tuensang.
5. Transterred to Pfutsero as EAC
6. EAC, Commissioner Nagaland Office
7. EAC to Dimapur
8. Border Magistrate to Niuland
9. Under Secy. attached to Chief Secretary Office
10. Posted to Fishery Deptt. as Under Secretary
Posted to Education Deptt. as Dy. Secretary
12. Posted to Tizit as ADC
13. Posted to Kiphire as ADC
14. Posted as Jt. Chief Electoral Officer, CEO Office.
15.2011-2014 posted as Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung
16. 2014-June 2017 posted as Deputy Commissioner Phek
17. 2017 July - December promoted to Secretary, Works and
Housing Dept. and retired from service.
Beyond his professional achievements, Murohu Chotso was a man of
deep faith and community spirit. He was also an author, penning
Chakhesang Customary Law and its Traditional Practices, a lasting
contribution to his people's heritage.

He will be remembered as a remarkable public servant, a loving
family man, and a visionary leader whose legacy will inspire
generationsto come.
