No onion No garlic konkani recipe
Puli Koddel means Sour curry. This curry is made using ash gourd,coconut,black sesame seeds, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds etc, adding tamarind pulp gives the perfect tangy flavour to the curry.
Kuvale Puli Kodel is quite famous in all GSB temples.
And when 2nd round of puli kodel is served we never miss to say "mama phoda matra vadi" hahahahhh! ("uncle serve ash gourd pieces only")
Ingredients
Ash gourd - ½ kg
Water - 2 to 3 cups
Tamarind - 1 lemon sized
Raw rice - 1 tbsp
Black sesame seeds - 2 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp + 1 tsp
Turmeric - 1 small piece
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Byadgi chilly -5 (less spice)
Grated coconut - 3 tbsp
Jaggery - 1 to 2 piece (adjust according to your taste)
Salt - as per your taste
For tempering
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
