We were delighted to have had Dr Rob Weinkove (Haematologist and Clinical Director of the Malaghan Institute of Research) join us last week to provide some more information on the Covid vaccination and what it means for haematology patients.
Rob gave a clear outline on the make-up of the vaccine, stating that it is not a live vaccine, it is safe, and contains the essential parts for us to make a good immune response to the Covid virus. Rob answers many questions around the different blood cancers and its suitability with various treatment regimens.
There is a very strong message that it is essential that blood cancer patients and their families/whanau get this vaccine.
