This is the first time that the Steelpan, the National Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago was performed on The Great Wall Of China!
I am Joshua Regrello, a steelpanist from Trinidad and Tobago. This year marks 50 years of diplomatic ties between Trinidad and Tobago and China. I was invited to China by the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in China to celebrate this milestone and to create this historical moment. This performance showcases two symbols of our Countries and was done to honor our Country’s friendship!
This performance is very special to me and my family as I am 4th generation Chinese. My great grand father came from China to Trinidad in 1916 so this was a true full circle moment for me and my family. I know that my ancestors are proud.
