250928A Nes campfire no loop original

Welcome back to the original recording of a campfire at one of my favourite campfire areas, presented by the Campfire Experience and creator Robin Lund.

Nes in Lødingen, Northern Norway, is an exposed coastal rock area with crooked little pine trees fighting their best to hold on to the almost bare rock. It is my favourite kind of landscape.

During WWII, the Germans built a coastal battery in the area, using prisoners of war, with a main battery of 4 haubite cannons. The Norwegian defense took over the battery after the war. The fort was shut down in 2002, and all the cannons were removed and the bunker sealed. The area is now in private hands and being built as a cabins resort.

Translated to English, Nes means cape (as in a very large piece of land sticking out into the sea), which means the area often suffers from the Arctic winds.

I had such a good time, I even dressed the base of the campfire in some pine cones.

And, yes, I did regret my choice of footwear as they constantly slipped off while walking on the rocks.

The soundscape is pretty much pure campfire sounds.
