Here is our monthly report.
The first time I started collecting data, it was in January where I examined 240 listings that were sorted as items selling soonest. I counted how many complete Hot Toys figures with art boxes were listed and then watched to see if they sold and at what price.
I compared the eBay sell price to the Sideshow list price and calculated the gross loss or gain. The news was not good.
I did the analysis two times in January and the results were the same. It was a buyer's market and Hot Toys figures were not appreciating except in very rare instances.
I did a mid February report with the same results. Now at the end of February and recently in March, these analyses remain consistent sadly.
If you need to sell figures, this is not a good time to reclaim your investment. You will likely encounter a loss. Thus, it is a buyer's market not a seller's market currently. Hopefully things will turn around in the near future, and if we collect data that indicates that is the case, we will let you know.
Regardless, everyone have a great day today and have fun customizing and/or collecting. In the end, that's why we do what we do I hope. Ideally, there is just joy in collecting; it is not a business. That is my hope anyway!!!
