Block printing--often done with wood or linoleum blocks--is a technique used for printing text, patterns, or any kind of image onto surfaces like paper and fabric.
In this instructional video led by Ward Museum executive director and artist Kristin Sullivan, you will learn to design your own unique print!
Using linoleum block printing tools and rubber blocks in place of linoleum, you will make your own print by drawing an image on your block (or learn how to transfer a mirror image of your design to the rubber block), and then carve the image using a variety of gouges. You'll then roll printmaking ink on your rubber block and apply it to paper.
Drop in Art is a FREE family-friendly, artist-led program sponsored in part by the Susan Kathleen Black Foundation.
