At 7 PM on Thursday the 22nd of January, 2026, Arto Rinteela opened the Fairmede Hilltop Neighborhood Council meeting hosted by the Hilltop Community Church.
Newly sworn in Police Chief Tim Simmons was hoping to be the keynote speaker but had also arranged for a substitute speaker in the event he might not be available. Sadly, that was the case but earlier in the day the substitute speaker had a major family emergency that prevented his participation.
Sergeant Rick Ramos spoke on behalf of the beat officer that would normally report on crime stats and responded to questions.
Richmond Police Department’s Crime Prevention Manager Michelle Milam also reported on the direction Chief Simmons plans to implement.
The meeting concluded with Don Gosney reminding the crowd of the new election protocols to be used to help elect Richmond’s Mayor and Councilmembers at the June 2nd Primary Election.
