‘Civic duty’: George Clooney reveals why he called for Joe Biden to drop out of the election

George Clooney has revealed it was his “civic duty” to call for former US president Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 election.

Clooney sat down with CNN host Jake Tapper for an interview where he spoke about his July 2024 New York Times op-ed on Biden.

"Well, I don’t know if it was brave. It was a civic duty," he said.

The actor explained he wrote his op-ed due to Democrats being unfaithful about Biden’s mental and physical decline.

In Clooney’s op-ed, he also explained how much Biden had changed at a June 2024 fundraiser compared to past meetings in 2010 and 2020.

"When I saw people on my side of the street, not telling the truth, I thought that was time," he said.
