What happens when the TikTok ban goes into effect?

The future of TikTok hangs in the balance as a potential ban looms just days away after the Supreme Court upheld a law requiring the social media app to sever ties with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

The Biden administration is leaving enforcement to President-elect Donald Trump after his inauguration.

But what will happen once the ban takes effect? What happens if you have TikTok on your phone? Where will users go to get content? What impact could the ban have on small businesses?

There are many questions to be answered.

Katy Pearce, an associate professor at the University of Washington, joined ARC Seattle anchors Tyrah Majors and Steve McCarron to discuss the Supreme Court’s decision and its implications.
