Antedating Bananas Don't Matter: State of GenAI Security Solutions
New security vulnerabilities like Prompt Injections are always a great way for security vendors to make some money. Therefore, it is no surprise that there has been an explosion in products seemingly protecting against Prompt Injections. Both startups and established players are trying to get a cut of the new and hot GenAI security market. Overall, this is a great thing because Prompt Injections are a hard problem to solve, and we need smart people to work on it. However, the current market for these solutions is lacking transparency. There are no established benchmarks, and many companies only make their glamorous sales presentations available. In this talk, we will take a look behind the curtain. How do these vendors build protections against Prompt Injections? How can you bypass them? What should you do, if you have to protect your GenAI application against Prompt Injections? What needs to happen for these solutions to become truly helpful for defenders?
