India has marked major strides in defence by successfully test-launching the nuclear-capable Agni Prime ballistic missile from a rail-based launcher, enhancing its survivable second-strike capability against China and Pakistan. Parallelly, the Army has greenlit the ₹30,000 crore Anant Shastra project, an indigenous QRSAM system designed to counter drones, aircraft, and rockets with mobile 360° radar and multi-target interception, plugging gaps in layered air defence. Complementing these advances, DRDO and Godrej Aerospace delivered the Kaveri Derivative Engine D-1 for UAVs and UCAVs, signaling India’s entry into serial indigenous jet engine production after decades of setbacks. Together, these achievements highlight India’s push for strategic autonomy, modern battlefield superiority, and credible deterrence through indigenous innovation and private-sector participation.
