Journey - Any Way You Want It - My $50 Ariana Strat (with mods)

It's that time of year again! The time of Winter NAMM (which got canceled this year). So, the Cork Sniffers and Gear Snobs can't go cream themselves while looking at guitars they could barely afford (and barely play). So, they've been showing up again in my comments - and the comments of my friends.

So, here's a song with my $50 (WITH MODS) Ariana Strat. The guitar cost $30 and the loaded pickguard $20. NOTHING else has been done other than a regular set-up. And it sounds THIS GOOD! Eat it, Gear Snobs! And don't forget to SWALLOW it down!


'Any Way You Want It' is from Journey's 1980 album 'Departure' and is written by Steve Perry and Neal Schon. This was a great hit for Journey as it reached #23 in the charts that year. It was all over the radio for years afterward and that shows a lot of staying power for any song.

SIGNAL CHAIN:

GUITAR: Ariana Strat bought off of Craigslist for $30. Changed to a HSS Strat after installing a Belcat $20 loaded HSS pickguard bought from Amazon. I had a Fender roller string-tree sitting around. So, I put it on. $50 for the whole project. It plays, sounds, and feels like a full-fledged Fender HSS Strat!
