A southeastern Pennsylvania site we planted in the spring of 2023, and is looking great in August of 2025. The hybrid poplars and willows are growing the fastest, as would be expected, already at 20' tall and higher, and the honey locust, persimmons, oaks and others are all coming along nicely. Learn about the methods used to establish this successful silvopasture system.
One highlight for me was hearing from the farmer that their cows are already making use of the shade! There's enough space for about two animals per tree, and they lay down in it, which means they are comfortable (standing would mean they are trying to dissipate heat). With the right methods, these tree plantings can give returns much faster than most folks realize.
