In this video you will be transported back to 1895, when a journalist from The Echo newspaper paid a visit to Dorset Street, which by then was getting the reputation of being the worst street in London.
The reporter met with two women who were doing their best to alleviate the suffering of the poor of the district, and they took him into several room where he met with some of the residents of this notorious thoroughfare.
His subsequent article provides us with a unique insight into life in Dorset Street just a few years after the murder of Jack the Ripper's final victim Mary Kelly had taken place there.
