In this final section of Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 3 (Karma Yoga), Verses 31–43,
Krishna speaks directly about the last and most dangerous enemy inside every human being.
Arjun’s fear has reduced.
His confusion is clearing.
But Krishna knows that one force can still pull him back into darkness.
So Krishna names it clearly.
👉 Desire.
Krishna explains that:
People who follow this teaching with faith are freed
Those who reject it out of ego destroy their own progress
He shows that everyone acts according to their nature,
and forcing change without understanding only creates conflict.
Krishna warns Arjun about liking and disliking —
how attraction and aversion control the senses
and quietly push people away from the right action.
Then Arjun asks a question that still echoes today:
“Why do people do wrong even when they know it is wrong?”
Krishna answers without hesitation:
Desire is born from passion
When blocked, it becomes anger
It never gets satisfied
It covers wisdom like smoke covers fire
Krishna explains where this enemy lives:
in the senses
in the mind
in the intellect
And then he gives a practical path, not theory:
first control the senses
use intelligence to steady the mind
recognize the Self as higher than all
This is not a teaching about ancient war.
It explains modern addiction, guilt, anger, avoidance, and self-sabotage.
Krishna is not asking Arjun to fight others first.
He is asking him to fight desire, ego, and confusion within.
The battlefield is still there.
But now Arjun knows the real enemy.
And now, he knows how to face it.
