🤔AV fistula surgery is a minor outpatient procedure that typically takes less than an hour. During the surgery, a surgeon joins an artery to a vein in your arm. This creates a wider blood vessel that is easier to insert needles into for hemodialysis.

✅There are two main types of AV fistula surgery:

Brachial-cephalic fistula: This is the most common type of AV fistula. It is created by joining the brachial artery (in the upper arm) to the cephalic vein (in the forearm).
Radiocephalic fistula: This type of AV fistula is created by joining the radial artery (in the forearm) to the cephalic vein (in the forearm).

As with any surgery, there are some risks and complications associated with AV fistula surgery. These include:

🔸Blood clot in the fistula (thrombosis)
