This Walter L. Main circuis poster dates from 1930 and was in many peices before I put it together on a Linen Backing. See my wife restore it after it is mounted too!
We restore antique, vintage posters by "Linen Backing" them. Linen backing is when we take a poster and mount it to a piece of acid-free paper and cotton canvas. It is an archival mounting process and helps the poster be stronger so that it lasts longer.
