Dirt Rally Is a Survival-Horror Roguelite

I don’t play racing games a ton, nor do I really consider myself to be the best at them. But, typically once or twice a year I do get in the mood for a game that’s different, but also comfortably familiar. A racing game that sticks with me for weeks at a time. A game I've been revising now for several years. A game that is absolutely, positively, my favorite racing game of all time. Dirt Rally 2.

I love many different game genres, but if I had to pick a few, my favorites would be action, survival horror, roguelikes, competitive multiplayer, and simulation. While it might not initially seem like it, especially if you’ve never played it – Dirt shares many of the same elements that makes those genres I mentioned so great. Of course, the obvious genre elements included here are action, competitive multiplayer, and simulation. But you might be thinking — how does survival-horror and roguelike elements fit into a rally racing sim?
