Britain’s Only Desert Dungeness: Romney Marsh: Kent: England 🇬🇧 UK—
Known for its desolate end-of-the-world beauty. Dungeness often erroneously described as a desert offers a barren and bewitching backdrop for a getaway. Wild and little weird shingle beach for endless miles. Dungeness is one of the largest expanses of shingle in Europe.
Dungenes most famous resident was the late filmmaker and activist Derek Jarman, who created a garden from the shingle around his home - The Prospect Cottage .
Old Lighthouse is a historic Grade II-listed building that saved ships from the perils of the English Channel between 1904 and 1960.
There’s a huge variety of wildlife in Dungeness including 600 varieties plants, different species of moths, birds, beetles and spiders which are rare and cannot be found elsewhere in Britain. It is also a home to 2 nuclear power stations. Great place for fishing 🩵✨
