Unforgettable. Having taken the Betfair Chase by a hard-fought nose on his seasonal reapperance, plenty were thinking that Imperial Commander might be the one to dethrone Kempton king Kauto Star, but instead the Paul Nicholls-trained champion produced a simply brilliant performance to win by a record-breaking margin.
This victory saw him given a Timeform rating of 191, the highest given to a horse in almost 40 years and making him the joint-third highest-rated steeplechaser of all time.
