I live in Montana and find Nettle in the late spring, early summer months. Its one of my favorite color and plants to use in soapmaking. You will get a green with fresh leaves. The older the leaves the more olive green you will get. I only use the leaf and not the stems. Using scissors, cut each leaf off the stem. Look for bugs, eggs, and cocoons. Remove if you have them. Once all the leaves are cut, you want to dry them out. You can use the sun to sundry, a dehydrator, or your oven. I used my oven in this video. I preheat to 190 degrees F. and places inside a long cookie sheep for 35 minutes. I placed an oven mitt to circulate some air. Once dry I used my Vitamin blender dry to bin to mill down into a find powder. I find nettle to not be scratchy, and use just the powder and no oil infusions. I like to use 2-3 teaspoon per pound oil for soapmaking.
