Transvoice: Vocal weight - Pitch slides

In this video I'll go over a particularly useful exercise called a pitch slide.
This is commonly used to decrease vocal weight which is one of the more powerful gender determining factors of voice. We'll go through how to do it and what to avoid and be aware of.

Vocal weight is often also referred to as thick/thin vocal fold configuration or open and closed quotient. While they refer to slightly different and nuanced things, the exercises used basically are designed to change all those factors and result in the sound quality we hear that is sometimes called 'harsh' 'buzzy' or 'heavy' in tone. We can reduce this to significantly impact the gender of our voices. Changing vocal weight alone can in some cases result in an androgynous voice, and the only other major factors (aside from clarity related things) are resonance and speech patterns.

I mostly made this video because I didn't have a good resource for all the times I critique people's clips and tell them to do pitch slides and then have them ask what a pitch slide is :3
Not sure what is more lazy, taking months to get around to making this, or making it so I don't have to explain it every time heh :p


Note:
This has some shortcomings (but it's too late I already committed to it). Particularly I forgot to mention not to use volume to imitate low vocal weight. If you get really quiet it will sound similar, but you won't be changing vocal weight. Try to get loud with low weight when doing these exercises. If you can only get loud while also getting heavy, try to keep your airflow (subglottal pressure) the same during the slide.
I'm also constantly working on and critiquing my voice, and so I'm sure I'll hate this soo- oh I hate it already.
