Unity 2022.2 is a major update that brings a host of new features and improvements to the Unity game engine. One of the most significant new features is the support for ECS (Entity Component System) in production, which makes it easier to build more performant and scalable games. Other new features include updates to the Burst compiler and C# Jobs System, which improve performance, and new ECS-specific packages for Netcode, Graphics, and Physics.
Multiplayer is now more accessible to all creators, thanks to the addition of Netcode for GameObjects and Netcode for Entities. This enables developers to create massively multiplayer experiences with ease. Unity also offers simple self-service Game Server Hosting and Matchmaker from Unity Gaming Services to host your game.
In terms of graphics, Unity 2022.2 has many new features, including Shader Graph Full Screen Master Node, Custom Post Processing, LOD crossfade, Forward+ rendering, HDRP Water System, Volumetric Material, Shader Graph, Cloud Layers dynamic lighting, and Volumetric Cloud conditions. Eye Cinematic with Caustics and HDRP Path Tracing Denoising also allows for more realistic cinematics.
The update also includes many new productivity features, such as brush improvements in Terrain Tools, AI Navigation package, improved tooling and API features for Splines, Light Batching Debugger, and Editor support for sprite Atlas generation. Additionally, UI Toolkit is now recommended for Editor tools and is being used to generate default inspectors.
Unity 2022.2 also includes platform integration and optimization features such as Android fast deploy, Google’s Memory Advice API, DirectX 12, and support for PlayStation® 5 and Nintendo Switch™. XR Interaction Toolkit (XRI) in version 2.2 provides core XR interactions, and AR Foundation 5.0 features Simulation which allows you to test your AR app in Play mode.

Hey! If you're new here, welcome! I'm a professional game developer that dabbles in indie games. I'll let you know with devlogs when I'm ready to show something that I think is cool. You can also watch some of my old tutorials, but in the future I only intend to have fun and hopefully entertain you with my dry/nonexistent sense of humor.
