Replacing RV Inverter with Belttt 3000 Watt Inverter Install
As is always the case with our DYI fixes, Sharon recently replaced our RV inverter. She had planned to show you every step she took. She thought from start to finish, the job might take 2 hours. At 6 hours in, she explains that she couldn't film it all because there was no room. Some of the work had to be done in a small cabinet above her bed, some in the closet between our beds, and some in the passthrough storage of our Micro Minnie.
Part of the reason we replaced the inverter we had was that the start was warped. Also it was shutting off more and more frequently. It was time to get a new one.
First, she had to feed the wires into a hole she just drilled. The wires fed in and worked. Next she mounted the remote start. She was thrilled it wasn't in a recessed place because this remote is larger than the previous one. It would have been difficult to recess the new one.
Next, she turned off the batteries and let all the charge dissipate before she removed the old inverter.
Although she had to remove a wall that had been built when we upgraded our solar, she was able to finally get the old inverter out. It took a bit of time to mount the new inverter because the size was just different enough so that the holes for the screws had to be moved. Just to be extra safe, she did use a resistor to be absolutely sure the batteries were fully discharged.
Sharon did get the inverter installed and turned on to be sure everything was working. It was a longer job than she planned, but she is glad it is over.
