A train derailed in northeastern Thailand on Wednesday after a construction crane fell on three of its carriages, killing at least 25 people and injuring about 80, police said. The accident took place on Wednesday morning in the Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, 230 km (143 miles) northeast of Bangkok, on a train from the capital bound for Ubon Ratchathani province. The accident happened at a high speed rail project construction site, which is part of a $5.4 billion project backed under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Iran’s government has endured despite repeated mass protests due to a combination of a powerful security apparatus, a rigid leadership hierarchy centred on the Supreme Leader, fragmented protest leadership, economic pragmatism and deeply rooted religious institutions.
While citizens continue to challenge policies and demand change, the regime’s control mechanisms. from the Revolutionary Guard to decentralised concessions, have so far prevented a unified opposition capable of overthrowing it.

After exhorting Iranians to protest and take over institutions and telling them that help is on the way, U.S. President Donald Trump was asked to clarify what help and how soon.
He refused to give a straightforward reply. Later, he said he was waiting for the accurate number of deaths in Iran to act. Meanwhile, Reza Pehlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last shah has said a plan is ready should the regime be overthrown.
