Power crews are scrambling as thousands of customers remain in the dark Wednesday morning.
As of 8:30 a.m., 177,000 customers are without power spread across the service areas for Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, and Clark PUD.
Several school districts have closed schools or started late due to power outages or downed trees.

KATU's Mike Warner is in Tualatin where several trees fell in a town home complex. KATU's Joe English is on Michigan Avenue in north Portland where a large tree fell across the street.
Winds overnight gusted over 50 mph in several locations, including Portland International Airport. Just before 1:30 a.m., PDX recorded a gust to 55 mph, the highest gust since 2017.
