I recently took the plunge and bought myself a Thomann Irish Concert Bouzouki PU (which I discovered was made by Hora). It's a really great value instrument, but you need to do a fair bit of work to make it better suited to playing Irish traditional music.
This video documents how I converted the instrument from the factory setup with octave strings to a unison strung bouzouki that's perfect for playing jigs and reels to your heart's content.
I've recorded short demos of the bouzouki in both tunings using an Audio Technica AT2031 condenser mic and an SE Electronics IRF 2 to isolate the sound.
