Lots of CSX Action Around Palmer | M436, L012, M427, and M426 (Ft. NECR Switching) | 8/11/2025

On August 11th, 2025 I went to Palmer for the day to see some trains with ‪@stoneybrookrailroadvids2736‬. I arrived at 9 AM and waited for about 45 minutes until the first train showed up. It was CSX M436 that led ES44AH number 858 as it crossed over the diamond passing through Steaming Tender. After that, an New England Central train started backing up out of the other yard across the diamond. It switched out the main yard in Palmer until finally after blocking the diamond for almost an hour. Once the last set of cars pulled into the yard, the locomotives appeared with GP40-2WB number 3038 leading and GP38 number 3845 trailing. CSX L012 was waiting on the other side to get into Palmer Yard. They started moving once the NECR local was finally out of the clear. Leading L012 was GP40-2 number 6216. We then drove to CP 83 to see them again enter Palmer Yard. M427 was near the area so we decided to stay there. We waited for a bit but it finally came through with CM44AC number 474 leading. Once the whole train cleared us, we booked it to a crossing in Wilbraham because we knew M426 would be leaving after M427 would pass them. Little did we know that we beat M427 to that crossing just in time, but didn't manage to get video. We heard M426 talking on the scanner saying that they were in the clear right after M427 passed them. They notched up pretty quick as they made their way east going about 45 miles per hour. I went back to Palmer Yard to see L012 leaving to go back to Springfield but only got photos. I ended my trip there as I had an awesome day out on the rails!
