On Thursday, September 9th, 2021, the Center for Heirs' Property Preservation™ honored Dr. Millicent E. Brown with the Commitment to Justice award! Watch the abbreviated highlights of this inspirational program as we celebrated Dr. Brown as a true warrior and lifelong activist for civil rights! Thanks to our powerful keynote speaker, Pastor Thomas Dixon. We also appreciate Dr. Tamara Butler, Executive Director, The Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, and our CEO, Dr. Jennie Stephens for their comments and reflections on Dr. Brown’s achievements. Also included are Mencer Don Edwards, Principal/CEO Justice and Sustainability Associates, Facilitator-Mediator, Civic Engagement Designer; Ambassador James Gadsden, Retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer, Educator; Dr. Doris Derby, Civil Rights Activist, Photographer, Educator; Carolanne Marie “Candie” Carawan, Civil Rights Activist, Singer, Author; and Raymond Huff, FAIA, Director/Associate Professor of the Clemson Architecture Center in Charleston, Partner in Huff+Gooden. A big thank you as well to our donors, sponsors, and contributors for making this amazing evening possible. We also appreciate the hard work of our Host Committee in putting this night together to pay tribute to Dr. Brown.
