Beijing Summer Walk | From U-Town Mall to Guomao via Ritan Park, The Place & CBD

Join me on a summer walk through the heart of Beijing as we explore one of the city’s most vibrant districts. The walk begins at U-Town Mall in Chaoyangmen Wai, a modern hub of shopping and urban life, before heading into the lively Russian District, known for its specialty shops, cafés, and international atmosphere.

We pass alongside the historic Ritan Park (Temple of the Sun), offering a glimpse of Beijing’s quieter, traditional side, before arriving at the dazzling The Place (Shimao Tianjie) – famous for its massive LED sky screen, one of the largest in Asia. From there, the route takes us into Central Park in the CBD, a rare green oasis surrounded by skyscrapers, where locals relax beneath shady trees.

The walk ends in Guomao, at the feet of the iconic China World Summit Wing, the tallest building in Beijing’s Central Business District and a symbol of the capital’s rapid transformation.

This city walk captures the unique contrasts of Beijing – from peaceful parks and historic corners to futuristic skylines and modern landmarks.
