Watal introduced a bold mental framework—RPG IQ—to understand how intelligence manifests across biology and machines:

🧠 The Four Orders of Intelligence:
Reactive: Instant responses (e.g. baby kicks, touch-me-not plant) — the physics of action and reaction.

Predictive: Learned associations (e.g. baby cries → gets milk).

Generative: Synthesizing across contexts (e.g. hot milk → hot coffee burns).

Intuitive: Self-awareness — knowing you’re about to fall sick before symptoms fully emerge.

“Intuition is not magic. It’s self-knowledge.”

He argued that today’s AI has crossed the first three boundaries—and is inching toward the fourth: Intuition, or self-aware AI. The prospect of machines understanding themselves raises moral, ethical, and existential stakes.

But Watal didn’t stop there.
