Carole Ann Ford, the British actress best known for her role as Susan Foreman in the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who, explains why she would only appear in 1983's 'The Five Doctors' if the BBC changed the script so she could call the Timelord 'Grandfather'. This was at today's magnificent 'Doctor Who Day' at The Concorde Club in Eastleigh, Hampshire, organised by radio and TV producer/broadcaster and Who fan Richard Latto. Other guests included seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy, and companions Sophie Aldred (Ace) and Matthew Waterhouse (Adric). Carole, now aged 85, was in the very first episode of Doctor Who in 1963, with William Hartnell playing her grandfather - The Doctor. She left in 1964, at the conclusion of The Dalek Invasion Of Earth. She returned to the role in the 20th anniversary special, "The Five Doctors" in 1983. It's the build up to that special show which she's discussing here.
