Our new PRE stallion Sultan, rising 9 yrs. This is only the 6th time we have sat on him since his arrival from Spain 5 weeks ago, four of those with him coughing through transit sickness so we couldnt ride him.
We are having to find his 'buttons' as he has been trained to slightly different aids in Spain than those we use. He has been very well trained by Pepe Alvarez Fernandez in Spain, but it takes time to get used to new riders and a new country.
He knows a lot but needs to strengthen behind yet and will occasionally go overbent as will most Iberian and Baroque type horses. He is beautifully light in the hand, but as he gets stronger behind he will not come btv and will extend the neck more.
There is much throwing up of hands in horror in the classical world if a horse comes btv even by itself. But for me, it is no worry as it will resolve itself as he gets stronger behind. This is warts and all, no editing.
He has a wonderfully trainable nature, and I hope will progress to perform the High School movements with ease as he matures.
