If you’re looking for a scenic, history-rich walk through the breathtaking landscapes of South Northumberland, Isaac’s Tea Trail is a perfect choice. Recently, I completed stages 3 and 4 of this 36-mile circular trail, journeying from Alston to Allendale via Ninebanks. This 20-mile stretch not only offered stunning views but also allowed me to immerse myself in the heritage of the North Pennines, often referred to as England’s last great wilderness.
Tips for Fellow Walkers
1. Plan Your Route: These stages are remote in parts, so ensure you have a map and know your way.
2. Pack Smart: Snacks, water, and sturdy footwear are essential. Weather can change quickly in the Pennines.
3. Take Your Time: Allow space to enjoy the views and historic sites along the way.
Reflections on the Trail
Isaac’s Tea Trail is more than a walk—it’s a journey through time, nature, and community. Completing stages 3 and 4 reaffirmed my appreciation for the North Pennines' rugged beauty and its rich cultural history. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just looking for a new adventure, this trail has something for everyone.
