TET Spain | Barcelona - Malaga | Day 1

As many of us are now affected by recent global events I would like to shorten your time and lift some spirits by sharing some epic memories from our recent motorcycle adventure trip - Barcelona to Malaga on TET track in 7 days.

I feel obligated to mention that at the time we arrived in Barcelona virus was still a bit of a "bad joke" as only 18 cases were registered in Barcelona and no cases registered in Latvia. Who knew that at the end of our trip those numbers will multiply 10 times and at the end of our arrival day back home Spain will be included into the "red list", putting us in quarantine for 14 days? Yes! Stupid as we look back... But on the other hand, we feel extremely "lucky" to had a chance to make such an epic journey before the total lockdown ruined so many dreams of TET adventures...

So after a bit of dreaming, planning, arrangements, logistics, what started somewhere around the December last year, and with the blessings of our lovely wives, who stayed home with our children, we took off.

The first day was spent getting from Riga, Latvia to Barcelona, Spain. Preparing bikes in the Antons rental bike garage (Thanks for equipment, instruments, spares, etc.!). Had some nice brunch in company of our friends in Barcelona. Finally, around 14:00 heading for TET track south from Barcelona. After some boring km of city streets and tarmac we decided to use Osmand bicycle navigation mode, to get to TET on a "straight line" ;)

Lost some enjoyable hours on a small country roads, dead ends, but it was worth it! We have 6 more days to make it. Our initial plan is to drive 250-300km per day to cover ~1700-2000km from Barcelona to Malaga. And hopefully conquer that nice loop to Almeria (some extra 300km).

The day went by very fast and after a short photo shoot on sun set around 19:00 we were reminded about the quick darkness after it. On some mountain tops there still is a view on the Balearic sea afar, where we started...

Hotel research and reservation was made quickly and we still got some 25km to quiet Prades village. Nice, leisurely supper at a local restaurant and hotel was opened specially for us!
