For my Thursday practice session, my focus was on a simple setup of a paper target at 10yds, a TargetsUSA mini popper at 18yds and A-zone sized steel at ~25 yds. My goal was improving my transitions from paper to both steel.
Looking at what I could improve, my reaction to the beep and draw time to first shot could be improved from first string, and there was a little more transitional speed to gain, as long as I had my eyes ahead of the gun and looking to the correct aiming point on each target.
This was a great drill to work on as it requires minimal setup and 100-150 rounds can give you many reps to really focus on things.
Analyzing data is critical to good practice habits. Don’t just shoot. Direct your attention to the things that you’re working to improve and then isolate the trouble areas with dry fire and then isolated live fire, before putting the full run together!
