However, the city's predominant cultural trait and economic engine are undeniably attributed to the vast number of descendants of Italian immigrants who settled and prospered in the region.

Caxias do Sul possesses a significant architectural and cultural heritage, notably the Santa Teresa D'Ávila Diocesan Cathedral and the National Monument to the Immigrant. Planned urban development and the preservation of historical spaces coexist with modernity. It is an important university center, home to the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS), which contributes to the training of skilled labor in various areas, strengthening innovation and the economy of Rio Grande do Sul.

Among the city's most important streets, Rua Julio de Castilhos stands out. It is one of the main arteries of downtown Caxias do Sul, notable for its concentration of commerce, services, and historical buildings.
