Yeats In Song; 16 Dead Men Released in Aid of Marie Keating Foundation

Friday May 6th 2016: It’s said that Yeats always thought that his words should be played out in song. Today marks the launch of a moving musical tribute in which Irish artist Lisa Lambe brings to life his epic poem 16 Dead Men.

On this the centenary week of the executions of the leaders of the 1916 Rising, Lisa hauntingly performs the powerful score composed by Steve Lynch of Stellarsound and accompanied by Fiachna O Braonáin & Martin Brundsen.

Renowned director Alan Gilsenan has brought his craft and his love of Yeats to life in creating a beautifully photographic music video, featuring the other worldly Lisa Lambe, archive footage and photography of Yeats and Dublin during the Rising of 1916.

The release of the track marks the beginning of a wider project to bring the poetry of Yeats to the world through music. The track is also available on iTunes and all proceeds in Ireland will go towards the Marie Keating Foundation for cancer awareness and support services www.mariekeating.ie
