Murray River Cod Fishing 5 Day VLOG with The Fishing Mission

With the boat fully loaded and ready to go, the plan was to head progressively upstream over the first three days on the Murray River, then drift back towards the launch area over the final two.
With good mate Justin on board, the mission was to target Murray Cod by flicking a range of lures while fishing throughout the 5-day trip. We focused on key bite windows and decided to mix up our lure presentations. I committed to fishing a range of hardbodies, including shallow-diving Old Mate lures and AC Invaders, while Justin worked through a selection of spinnerbaits, mainly the Bassman Codman, tweaking colour profiles and blade setups as we went. We also decided to run a variety of surface baits at first and last light each day.
With low flows predicted and a further drop expected over the first few days, we knew the river was going to be challenging to navigate. Once we were on the water, we were pleased to find the clarity in excellent condition, down to 3 feet. However, with the river running so low, covering ground was slow going.
In summary, the trip was a huge learning experience. With varying weather conditions, a dropping river, and a constantly changing barometer, we had to adapt our approach each day. One of the biggest takeaways was discovering just how effective a small, shallow-diving hardbody lure could be in fast-flowing, shallow sections. The 1oz medium Bassman spinnerbait also proved its worth throughout the trip. When reflecting, it's interesting, with two completely different lure approaches, we both snag the same number of fish.
All up, it was an awesome few days on the water, and to both finish the trip with a metrey to our name just topped it off perfectly.
