This video briefly describes the different types of auxin transport in plants. Since IAA is the most abundant auxin in plants, therefore, its transport is mainly discussed here. IAA transport is primarily polar (unidirectional) in nature since it has a tendency to move from the SAM to the RAM. The polar auxin transport is considered to be energy-dependent and gravity-independent in nature.
Polar auxin transport is based on xylem parenchyma above the ground and based on phloem parenchyma below the ground. Polar auxin transport occurs in a cell to cell fashion (Apoplast pathway) and it is a slow rate of transport.
The auxin transport can also be a long-distance non-polar transport from source to sink and such transport is always phloem based and passive in nature and it is faster compared to polar transport.
