A single-leg sweep from the clinch is a takedown variation that blends wrestling mechanics with judo-style trips. Instead of just lifting and finishing the single leg, the fighter uses their clinch grip and body positioning to off-balance the opponent while sweeping or reaping their standing leg.
It’s harder to defend than a traditional single-leg pickup, since the opponent can’t simply hop away. The sweep neutralises balance immediately, making the takedown smoother and be can be disguised within clinch striking (knees, dirty boxing) or chain-wrestling sequences.
