At APEC 2025, Power Integrations demonstrated its 1700V Power GaN technology integrated into an IC optimised for single-stage, multi-output power supplies. This solution delivers precise voltage regulation—±1%—across multiple outputs without requiring DC-DC post regulators, making it ideal for high-voltage applications.
One of the key innovations shown is the use of ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) on the primary side. Designed for input voltages up to 1000V DC, the IC improves efficiency by over 1% without needing additional circuitry such as active clamps. Instead, the design leverages synchronous rectification and reverse current commutation to discharge the BDS voltage efficiently.
With over 90% efficiency maintained across a wide 300V to 1000V input range, this GaN-based solution is well-suited for compact, high-performance power supplies in industrial and high-voltage environments.
