In this video, I go over the GameCube controller snapback issue and what I do to fix it. This is a watered down, and simplified coverage of a controller mod covered by many other people.
Assuming you know how to open your controller, the process of soldering the connections and inserting the capacitor is one of the only things holding you back from precise inputs (besides online lag, of course).
Couple of things to mention:
-I believe for this mod to work, it requires connecting the controller and disconnecting with X+Y+start
-the stick is a Battle Beaver Customs domed stick, and the weight factor may have contributed to snapback issues. I do recommend their products if you like custom buttons and other mods
-I don’t go in-depth with the pins I’m soldering the wires to, for more information (and the inspiration for this video) check out Kadano’s detailed guide: • Capacitor mod tutorial – consistent aerial...
Here’s what I used:
-Triwing screwdriver
-soldering kit
-hot glue gun
-1uF (105 cap) ceramic capacitor
-jumper wires (female ends)
-wire cutter
-wire stripper
-exacto/craft knife
All of these items can be found on amazon. If you just want to fix your controller and move-on, it doesn’t hurt to buy budget tools. BUT if you’re looking into future mods/using the tools later, you should always buy quality tools that last longer and are made with better parts.
